Design mentor projects

Cardinal Wiseman Catholic School, Greenford, UK

Cardinal Wiseman Catholic School is an existing large secondary school in Greenford West London. The school was substantially rebuilt for £25 million under Ealing’s BSF programme.

The cramped school needed to expand for additional numbers, and remain open throughout the four-year reconstruction.

As Client Adviser to Ealing Council Paul Cayford worked closely with the school to define the school vision, manage the development partner appointment process and to oversee the design development up to planning approval.

One major teaching building was constructed, and the site was rationalised from twelve to six buildings, with the remaining buildings substantially renovated. The new development has provided organisational clarity to the school, with high quality teaching spaces and excellent external areas. Cayford Architecture has continued working with the school for additional projects.
